To determine the approximate boundaries of the Technology Corridor regional analysis, information from local and state sources were plotted for geographic analysis. The information contained in this summary is based on aggregate data from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City laborshed studies. Customized industry specific information is available on request.

Technology Corridor partners recognize economic shifts create constant chagnes in employment needs due to economic shifts. Iowa City Area Development Group and Priority One have partnered with Kirkwood Community College to review and study the trends of local companies' workforce needs. This report was developed to analyze workforce trends in the Corridor region. This information is used to adjust workforce business services.

Affordability: Fringe Benefit Profile
The Corridor Fringe Benefit Profile allows businesses to maintain their competitive edge in the marketplace. The information, coupled with other economic tools, allow businesses, community leaders and workers to make better decisions about expansion projects, community development projects and job offerings. The Fringe Benefit Profile can be used to address rising costs of benefit packages to both employers and employees.

  • 89.2 percent of Corridor employers offer a fringe benefit package in addition to wage compensation
  • 15.9 percent of employers offer a benefit package that is union negotiated
  • 99.4 percent of businesses surveyed employ at least one full-time employee
  • 70.6 percent of businesses surveyed employ at least one part-time employee
  • 35 percent of businesses surveyed employ at least one temporary/seasonal employee
  • The average hours worked to be considered full-time is 36 hours per week
